Foundation course covering body exercises, stretching and basic postures for flexibility and stamina.
Madhava Matam CVN Kalari was started by Shri. Ramachandran Nair in 1974. Later he opened branches inside and outside Kerala. The Capital center in Pappanamcode continues as a hub of traditional Ayurvedic treatments and Northern style Kalaripayattu.
Training starts with Meypayattu for flexibility. Progress through Kolthari (wooden weapons) and Angathari (sharp weapons). Regular classes morning 6-8 AM.
Specialized treatment for acute Musculo-skeletal injuries using unique manipulation techniques. Includes Uzhichil (foot massage) and medicated bandages.
Holistic treatments with MD qualified doctors. Specialized in Rasa Chikitsa and Yoga therapy. 2 months therapeutic Yoga courses available.
Kalari Tatwam and Swasthya Raksha programs combining Kalaripayattu, Yoga and Ayurvedic detoxification for holistic wellbeing.
No prior experience is needed. Beginners start with Meythari which includes basic body exercises, stretching and flexibility training. Regular practice helps build stamina gradually. Training starts with sequences of body exercises which help to attain flexibility and stamina. Continuous and regular practice is essential for beginners.
Children above 7 years can start Kalaripayattu training. Special classes for children's are conducted on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Regular classes are held Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
Marma Chikitsa includes Uzhichil (foot massage), medicated pouches for pain, application of medicated bandages, and treatments for injuries, back pain, neck sprain, and hemiplegia. It is an individual branch of treatment developed by Kalari masters for acute musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions.
Yes, we offer special classes for foreigners with flexible timing. For theatre students, we provide 2 months basic training covering Meythari and body kinetics, useful for dancers and actors. Evening classes can be arranged for foreigners with special attention.
Kalaripayattu training progresses through three main stages:
1. Meythari: Basic body exercises for flexibility and stamina including stretching, turning and jumps.
2. Kolthari: Training with wooden weapons to develop balance and controlled energy delivery.
3. Angathari: Advanced training with sharp weapons focusing on Marma points and spiritual aspects.
Yes, Kalari performances can be arranged for groups of 25 members in Kalari premises with one week prior booking. Performances and workshops outside Kalari require two weeks notification. Travelling expenses, food and accommodation should be arranged by the organizers. Duration: Basic - 45 minutes, Advanced - 1 hour.
Yes, Madhava Matam CVN Kalari offers Collective modules of Kalaripayattu - Yoga training for ladies under the supervision of Dr. Priyanka. We also provide Therapeutic Yoga for patients, combining Kalaripayattu and Yoga for holistic wellbeing.
